At PS 40Q Samuel Huntington, we are not just a school; we are a vibrant community dedicated to shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning. In 2023, we proudly secured a $1.3 million literacy grant, a testament to our commitment to academic excellence and literacy development.
My time at P.S. 40 was an incredible experience, laying the foundation for myself to succeed in both middle school and high school. The educators and staff not only made each day a joy but also nurtured a genuine love for learning within me. Even outside of the classroom, being able to do speeches and sing songs on spirit day helped build my public speaking skills, which I still use every day in High School. Extracurriculars like Chess Club and Student Government helped me explore my interests, and the skills I’ve learned from them have been assets throughout my time in middle school and high school. As I continue my educational journey in high school and look ahead to college, the foundation I built at P.S. 40 remains invaluable. The passion for learning, public speaking, and leadership skills instilled during my time there have served as a strong framework for my academic and personal growth

About Us
PS 40Q applies common philosophies set forth by the school community which is to provide students a sound environment for educational excellence that will develop the skills, attitudes, knowledge and values to become contributing members of society.
We serve as a diverse, multilingual student population of recent immigrants to the United States. At this school, we seek to provide each student with a language-rich learning experience that moves them to a point where they can read, write and communicate effectively in English and their native language. The students will learn to use their minds well to critically analyze and respond to complex real-world issues. They will use what they learn to become successful academically and professionally and to become advocates for themselves and their communities.
